Installing Ubuntu without a CD?

Hey there. I need some help. I've been trying to install Ubuntu onto my server computer ( Got a Wireless PSI card or whatever so I can do it now. ) but I realized that after a bunch of tests, my CD Rom drive either isn't compatible with my Ubuntu CD I got from a Linux magazine, or my CD Rom drive is broken completely.
I would really really like it if I could get Ubuntu working on that server. Windows is absolutely terrible on it.
Any ideas on how to boot the install from anything other than a CD?
If so, could you give me a guide ( Or link to one )?

Buy a new CD drive. They aren't expensive.

Download the iso and Unetbootin, and install it on a USB drive.

No you install it on windows then dual boot from there :D. Just select a large size for the image (Virtual hard Drive).

I tried this earlier. It requires you to use Linux Terminal to format it or something like that.
My old Linux Install no longer exists so colon beginparentheses

How much do those go for?

No you install it on windows then dual boot from there :D. Just select a large size for the image (Virtual hard Drive).

Thing is the server computer has 2 windows installs, CS:S files for hosting, TF2 files for hosting, Garry's Mod files for hosting, and Blockland files for hosting.
Considering how old it is, it's pretty damn full.

Alright. So I just need to mount the install in Daemon Tools, install it, but then manually remove all the existing files?
I need to still remove Windows and the Windows applications.

I installed ubuntu on my machine using a live usb I set up in windows. This isn't the same program I used, the one I used could install any old linux livecd to a usb drive, but it should work.

Install it on a hard drive that doesn't have an operating system if you can. When I installed it on my computer, I used a live usb of gparted to shrink my the partition on my second hard drive and make some room for ubuntu. 2GB is the minimum and won't leave any room for updates. I'd suggest 10gb. After I reformatted my computer so I could reinstall windows and format my hard drives in a format that made sense (put the os in one drive, documents and applications in other drives) I expanded to 40GB. I'm still only using 5 at the moment. I also made the swap partition a bit bigger since ubuntu only sets apart like 170mb. But I probably didn't need to.

If I use the program mentioned in this, would I have to use an empty USB?
I have my 1 TB USB External Harddrive so could I put the Ubuntu files on the root of that and load the install from there?
