Author Topic: Speed Drawing - Stranded  (Read 1947 times)

I haven't been on my computer in a looooong time so I decided to post two things in one day, sorry guys =P

It's a drawing I did. Most of my drawings are inspired by music, this one was inspired by Land Locked by Merlinsbeard on NewGrounds. If you don't know what NewGrounds is, and if you also live under a rock, it's here.

So uh, yeah. I know that the waves look like crap, I'm still getting used to my tablet... Sadly. That, and I've never drawn waves before. So it just ends up as one big messy fail D:
If you want to rate, go ahead.

Thanks :D
Mind telling me what exactly you liked, though? I wanna find out what exactly I need to work on.

I liked everything but the waves. You could try making it look like the water is brushing past the objects. Because it looks like the water is just stiff around the objects.

I thought the exact same thing.. Probably, I just got lazy because of the whole amount of time I worked on this one little pic =\
Thanks, though, for telling me.

The wave's should also be coming toward the shore line, but other than that, I love it.

Post the finished picture here.

I like the Robot for the most part. What program is that(i have been asking around i got a tablet and i wanna find a good program).

I liked the Robot, but not the proportioning on it so much.  The waves were annoying, and I completely disliked the hand.

But, overall, I liked it.  Thought it was interesting.

Oh, Khorde i love youre avatar, when i first saw it i laughed.

First off. I want to know what you used to record the desktop. As one day I want to record how I draw, because I'm sure people want to know just how on earth I do it, and my procedure is far from normal.

Second. to the drawing. Everyone has pretty much said what I feel. All I have to add is; If you really want to save time, there's no point in doing an undersketch if you follow it so exactly. You are drawing on the computer, and well, mistakes don't cost you anything. You will save a lot of time if you just dump the undersketch procedure.

Also, when drawing on the PC, NEVER zoom in when you draw actual parts. You can't do this in the real world when you draw on paper, so it's not natural. It will cause you to make mistakes. I know this because I had this bad habit until one day I finally realized it was why I made faces really bad. Once I stopped doing it, things got a lot better. I mean a LOT better. Only zoom in to clean up linework. If you can't see the entire picture as you draw it, you are probably going to get things wrong.

Also, your background methods need a lot of work. Don't be afraid to take whatever time it needs. I think you simply just rushed the background too much, and as a result, it just didn't fit well.

Overall; the robot is pretty good, minus what has already been said. Background though, well I already stated my feelings on it.

That was really cool. :D

Also thanks for sharing, Trash Man, that advice will help me as well.

Undersketches are very important to me, when I draw, on my computer. For some reason I can't draw without one.. I don't know why, but I just do. Thanks, I read the rest but I have to leave soon, and I can't reply to it all.
Oh, and, I used hypercam. Yeah, I know, really low-grade program,  but it works nonetheless.

I'm still waiting for the picture here, now.

What program did you use to draw it? I think I might buy it/give the demo a try.
