Author Topic: New 3D Printer  (Read 2139 times)

It seems as though now there is a relatively cheap 3D printer out there, called the Cupcake CNC.
This machine uses ABS plastic (Ironically the same stuff legos are made from), and is extremely durable. In the demo it even shows the people making salt and pepper shakers with the 3D modeling program thats included, with holes, gap and all. Straight from the printer they could put salt in the shaker and use it. Normally a machine like this would cost thousands, but this is the first affordable one, at $750.

*read read read* blockheads are fail ^-^ you would need a few different kinds of plastic (the space between the arms, legs...... i would check if it can even do that first XD best you might be getting is a 2d piece of paper from a normal printer or a monocolored older kind of blockhead)

Did you not even read my post? Just look at the attachment, and yes I suck at paint. The blue is the glass case, and the lines are plastic supporters. :o

3d printers tend to only be able to make one color of plastic at a time, use transparent plastic for supports between the body and legs/ shoulders and arms. then print out one piece at a time and melt the edge of whatever piece and the edge of the piece it touches and then stick them together like you would any model... if you have a greater iq then 2½ then you should understand not needing anything for your blockhead and having just as much motion as your back plate.

result: a blockhead you can take and stick in a bed with a lego man.... dunt ask the result of that one though ^-^

Here's a picture of one of the builds, it quite obviously needs improvement but you can shave off the excess.



Remember this thing is pretty new, and this build is very detailed.

wait is this thing a printer or a sculptor? o-o i cant see how it would leave those strings behind if it was a printer. maybe its just cuz i dun own one ^-^

It's a printer because it takes information sent from the computer, and converts it to a real life object. Why do you think I said 3D printer, not 2D. Look at the way the builds are made by looking at a video.

Yes, it takes any model that you have created on the computer in 3D, and converts it to a real life object.

and here i was thinking it was a 3d lazor printer ^-^ mah bad

This is old, lol Really cool, my uncle has actually seen one work before.

If you can have that kind of plastic supporter, see if you can fit one between the pants and the legs or the shoulders and the hands instead of the back to each part.
