What do you guys honestly think about ROBLOX?

I personally don't like it.

It's also best not to talk about it.

It's a perfectly fine game that some people will like and others won't. I personally don't care for it, some parts of it are pretty sweet but DMs kind of suck and building is over complicated.

Ambiguous topic, but whatever you silly john.

It's financially successful, but the community is made up of stupid children who've never seen what a real computer game looks like and are willing to pay a monthly subscription to make the game good instead of a one time payment for everything. The developers/admins are idiots who don't even acknowledge the fact that their game and the engine they run on is total stuff and all they do is spurt out hats instead of actual content.

Not to mention the rules are enforced to Disney-level safety of "no saying shut up".

EDIT: Not to mention the game engine, not only requiring a computer from the early 90s, is also even then still incredibly laggy because most of it is server-based. Which is why the physics are laggy, and why moving around is a clusterforget. The shooting is downright handicapped. I've never seen such worse shooting styles.

roblox would be an ok game if the lag didnt kill everything and it didnt have to be run completely online.  the building is very complex too.
personally, im never going to play roblox again.  it lagged the sit outta my computor.

... Don't be extreme, there are a handful of people that are mature. Me for example. And yes, 95% of the community is group of dumbasses who don't know what the word "forget" means. And yes I know that BlockLand's community far passes ROBLOX's. I am even considering switching over to blockland. However, that would mean cutting out scripting. Now I understand that BlockLand has "Events" which is much like scripting. However, I prefer "freestyle". BlockLand is amazing, I'll give you that. It has dynamic lighting, and great graphics. I'll stick to ROBLOX because scripting though. That's the one thing that sets ROBLOX and BlockLand away from each other.

Oh, ok, but why? :/

Well, first, why I don't like it;

I had a hard time even finding where to play the game. After some searching, I found it. I moved around a bit and spawned some weapons, just to see what they were like. The Roblox rocket launcher is famed for shooting a box that moves slowly enough for you to move in front of it and shoot yourself. I attempted to build, only to be horribly confused by what I was supposed to be doing. I knew I had to resize the brick, but couldn't find out how. So, I simply went back to destroying the starter house. I went to check on a topic I had made here, and when I finished, came back to find Roblox had frozen. I thought maybe I'd browse around their forums to see if there was any help abound, but reading some of the topics made me simply shake my head in pity. I also take into account that although Roblox may be "free", you need to buy a builder's club membership to get decent things, which costs about $300 for a lifetime. Blockland costs $20 for a lifetime.

Second, why it's not best to talk about it;

It usually sparks some sort of fight, and it attracts newer members who think the correct thing to do is to say how much "Roblox sucks Blockland ftw lolol" and simply spill their stupidity everywhere.

I'm not saying Roblox sucks, it just has a lot of issues and doesn't appeal to me.

This is Badspot, the creator of Blockland's view on Roblox:

The web backend of roblox is very impressive but the in-game experience is complete stuff.  It boggles my mind how bad it is.  Moving around is completely broken - it's jerky, there's no interpolation, you penetrate walls when you run into them, you penetrate the floor when you jump, there is no client side prediction of collision.  Shooting is a complete joke - I have literally never seen a shooting mechanic that is worse.  The camera goes through walls, gets stuck, jerks around.  You can die mysteriously when walking down stairs or jumping into the ceiling.  Every build is floating so you often are flung off of the world and fall forever.  The character animation and gui look like what you would make in 5 minutes to debug something.  With 1000 blocks loaded, i get ~50 fps on my super computer - in Blockland I get like 950+.  The whole thing is like a student project that has gone out of control.

Roblox only thrives because it aggressively markets to children who have never played a real game before and thus do not realize how broken everything is.  Some of those children happen to be the rare combination of mentally ill and rich, so they pay the $300.  Anyone who has played quake, tribes, battlefield*, TF2, HL2, or any real game on the pc simply cannot tolerate how bad roblox is.

Roblox is a financially successful community site and I respect it for that, but it is simply not in the same league as Blockland in terms of gameplay.

Oh, and a wise warning: Posting a link to Roblox here will get you banned. This feature was added shortly after Roblox began the Ambassador program, and we've been told it bans people often.

The lag is way better now. :/. Also, I HIGHLY doubt that you played ROBLOX if you say everything is online. There IS solo mode you know.

Yes, I know that what he wrote was true AT THAT TIME. HOWEVER, gameplay on ROBLOX has gotten much better. Many glitches are fixed and GUIs are coming out, which will boost ROBLOX's gameplay. And saying ROBLOX's movement is jerky is a complete lie. It is a little worse than BlockLand, I'll admit, but not to the point where it's jerking around. Besides, what can you expect from the creator and competitor of ROBLOX (no offense intended)? The camera was glitchy at the time he was reviewing it and I HAVE played professional games. I HAVE noticed that ROBLOX does seem wacky at times. But what makes me keep coming back are scripting, in-depth building, friends, and other great stuff.

It changed within the past 3 weeks? Because that was about when I played.

Also, Badspot creates games, he knows when something is wrong with it. He wouldn't create an opinion completely on the fact that Roblox is Roblox. He's a truthful guy, and he knows what he's talking about.

And yet he don't know that console hacked badspot?
