Author Topic: Help with my energy sword  (Read 1263 times)

I made it. it works fine. its just that i dont like how the different peices can be seen through the trans blade. is there any way i can put them together so it becomes one piece?

Heres a picture:

also if there is a way to make the blade rounded around the edges that would help...

i also plan to add animation that makes the blade appear/extend out but when i hide the face during animation it doesnt play it...

Could really use some help please...

hmmm....animations =O I can't do that but...

If you use Blender - No help either
If you use milkshape - Select parts to be rounded, go into the top drop down menu (not sure which one) and do either smooth edges or spherify

Yeah, you just need to make it one mesh.
Not all of those little shapes put together.

Quitter.

I didn't get this far by quitting!

I mean I quit on the energy sword cause you already made it and there's no purpose in another one... I'm gonna make something else

I didn't make it into a add-on.

I just had that model from along time ago.

Well I suggest you do. It will save like 10 request topics...

psst, stop being a pusillanimous individual.
Do ett.

Then how did you make it rounded. Mine is a flat square blade... I need a new model...Well... Currently in the poll the giant pencil is winning... For some reason...

Just cut the intersecting faces out. Select them and delete them. Then you make sure all the vertexes are as close as possible, or even better, merged/snapped together.

Also for this, don't flatshade the blades and they'll look pretty spiffy even though they're pretty basic stretched squares. You won't notice if you make the mesh Self-Illuminating and Translucent + Additive anyways. What good is flatshade-shadowing if there are no shadows?

just so i dont have to make a new topic... i need help flatshading... i follow the flatshading tutorial but it never works for me... how do you guys do it? I use milkshape but i also have blender if i have to export/import. but a way to easily flatshade in milkshape would be very appreciated. how im doing it now: Highlight every face, unweld, uncheck autosmooth, weld together. tile texture mapper, click ok, export.... my LODs i set as 50.

LODs should ALWAYS be set to 0
(On anything non-collision box related)

Also,

Select all
Auto smooth (ON)
Unweld
Auto smooth (OFF)
Weld Together

Is the correct order.
