Author Topic: Can someone convert an AVI file into a GIF?  (Read 1367 times)

I made a new animated avatar, but its saved as avi. Can someone convert this to GIF?

If someone could share how to do this as well, please do.

I tried to make an animated GIF out of part of a YouTube video and I couldn't really get enough frames to make it look smooth. :/

EDIT: That one looks like your current one. :/

Dammit, my animator can only export .avi, but can't import :\
Sorry bro. But I think certain video editors can export them into .gifs.

I'll try. gimme a couple of minutes.

Its easy, but you'd need a program to take some still frames.

Want me to do it?

The GIMP Animation Package will let you do it. Take an AVI video, specify the beginning and end times of the frames you want (I usually just trim the video in windows movie maker first). Then export each frame as a xcf file. Open them all as layers then set the color mode to indexed and export it as an animated gif.
