Author Topic: Help me find a computer!  (Read 1452 times)

My current computer is awesome with a whole 1GB of RAM and 55GB hard drive and it's shared :). Anways I am trying to find a somewhat decent computer but I can't really find anything, and I dont want to make one. So I could use some help.

Here are somethings I don't/do want.

PC I don't really want vista. Just want XP
Around $500
Decent graphics card. I want to be able to play MW2 and CoD4 on somewhat decent graphics.
4GB of RAM
Around 500GB for ROM
Some what of a gaming processor
Perferably a package if online. With mouse, keyboard etc.
Anything else I forgot tell me please :)

I want all the parts already built. Don't want to add something and take it into a shop and stuff.

what

Also, you're going to want Windows 7 because XP is becoming more and more outdated each day.

W7 is awesome. I have it on my new computer I got a while ago.

By around 500 do you mean under 500?

Well, I found this.

You'd want to buy a video card, better power supply, and perhaps faster ram from a better brand (if you care that much).

A dual core with 2 gigs of ram should suit the kind of gaming you seem to want to do, providing you have a sufficient video card.

I forgot to mention the motherboard was microATX, I have no idea if a large video card on a microATX board in an ATX case poses an issue or not; ask someone else.

Just want XP

Decent graphics card
decent? even good graphics cards now REQUIRE vista+,and WANT 64bit OS. mostly to use DX10. DX10 don't require, but recommends a 64bit OS that XP is not. even the hacky x64xp is fake and broken and don't actually run at 64bit.

also if your going to stay at old school 32bit computer for gaming, then your limited to a pitiful 3.4gigs of ram forever.

3.5*. When I had 32-bit XP and 4GB of RAM I was capped at 3.5GB.

Another question: Do you need anything other than the essentials replaced, like monitor, keyboard/mouse, speakers, case, hard drive or dvd drive? That sort?

I dunno how much money you're willing to spend. But if you're going for gaming then get an Alienware PC.

Those are way overpriced.

So should I wait till October 22nd to get a computer with windows 7?

I am not really good with computers lol.

It'd be a waste of money if you just bought one from a store.

With $500, you won't get much of a "gaming" computer unless you built it yourself.

If you buy Vista now you'll get a free upgrade coupon for Windows 7.

Yes, also this seems to be a good option, considering you don't want to build it. However, it does not come with a screen or speakers if you needed them.

Just buy one.

Get a Dell XPS.
