Clean up the colour and maybe smudge it a little bit then it's okay for a trace

The closest thing to smudging in paint.net is a blur, I think.

it shouldn't be pure white.

but other than that it needs a lot of blending obviously

How do you smudge in paint.net?

Upload on Gimp then use smudge and other tools there.

It looks like a high quality version of a jpg that was poorly converted to a gif or something.

I didn't even realise the white thing was meant to be a shine at first, it looks out of place.
