How do I enter the key for Avast?

My dad gave me a key for Avast antivirus, but I cant figure out how to enter the key. How do I enter the key so it becomes the full Avast or whatever.

The newest version of avast doesn't even require you to enter a key as I recall, I installed it a couple of weeks ago.

So, it works just the same as the bought one or something?

For professional you need a key, which includes on-access protection.
Open it up, and there should be a button that says Registration while it's doing the memory test.

Unless things changed since I last checked.
