Author Topic: What are some good books to read?  (Read 5070 times)

Christopher Moore is a good author all of his books tie in together somehow, but not so much that you have to read every one of his books to understand whats going on.
Brave New World by A. L.  Huxley is a good read.
Most of Chuck Palahniuk's books are good.
Dean Koontz is another good author.
And of course anything be Kurt Vonnegut is good.

A lot of good things that I would recommend have already been listed, (i.e Hunger Games, Supernaturalist, other stuff).

I'm currently reading Dreamcatcher by Stephen King, and it's pretty good.  If you're really into the Fantasy genre like I am, you could look at series written by R. A. Salvatore.

You should read Animorphs, they may be directed toward younger kids but it's still a great book series.

You should read one World War Z by Max Brooks its pretty great

Let's look through my 50 or so books...
Pendagon series (NEEDS to be made into a movie series, but I doubt they would make 10 movies, and you can never compress a series, Series of Unfortunate Events movie sucked because of that)
Eragon series (Movie sucked ass)
Artemis Fowl series (Needs movies too)
Noble Warriors Series
Timeline by Michael Crichton
Septimus Heap series
Earthsea cycle
The Lathe of Heaven
The Fire Within series
The Warrior Heir series
City of Bone series
I can't believe nobody has mentioned Ender's game
I need more books...

I can't believe no body has said the Little prince or slaughterhouse 5.
I mean, the little prince is a literary masterpeice, and had me in tears.
And it takes about 30 minutes to read.
And I suggest The Flood, the first halo "book"
And, obviously, the Thief lord.
If you don't know the author of The Thief lord DAYUM!

I'm reading all the books by Orson Scott Card he did Ender's Game and a lot of others that are in the same story. He writes really great science fiction books.

I loved ender's game :D

Read the Road, and you will think its all darkness. its not, there is 'hope' in the darkness, and the darkness just makes that hope look that much brighter. i still think it sucks though :c

Ah, I hate it when books are made into films.
If you read a book, then watch the film of it, almost all the images you get from the book are different from how they're displayed and then your images are ruined.
And, if you watch the film first, and THEN read the book, you can't produce your own images of characters, and the book isn't really read to it's fullest extent.

Atleast, that's how I see books-to-films. Others may find it easier to blend the two images together or ignore one.

I would also recommend the 'Chronicles of Narnia' and not just 'The Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe'. That one is probably my second least favourite one. It's rather over-hyped by the movies made of it.
But all in all, the books are a really good read and really creative.

Terry Pratchett books

Funny as, uh, something VERY funny.
