People who go through the proper channels to get an automatic rifle more than likely are not going to break the law. Also you just said we should take away peoples rights.
Right, because if you manage to get an automatic rifle it's totally not for a reason.

Exactly, there's not a lot wrong with the idea of communism if you have responsible leaders.
In general to all gun freaks here:
I'm Canadian guys, I don't know anyone who's owned a gun and I can't be sure I know anyone who's shot a gun. There's no purpose to a right to bear arms, it's based on a system where it's necessary to carry around a gun or out of paranoia. It doesn't seem like anyone would ever have a reason to own a gun, ever. Sure, you can defend yourself from dangerous people, but what's the chance you're ever going to have someone try to murder you? And even then what's the chance you're going to be holding a gun to shoot their ass off?
Its a right to own guns, I don't see what makes an automatic weapon any different.
Because there's no reason you'll ever need to own a gun for any legal purpose.
