I didn't say we should get rid of the second amendment. Stop putting policies in my mouth. I said that civilians do not need automatic weapons. If a criminal gets them illegally, then what the forget are the police for?

Yes but what's the problem with owning an automatic rifle? After the Automatic Gun ban of may 1986 you must file paperwork and be on the ATF's Class 3 machine gun owner. Plus pay minimum $10,000 for the gun itself. Plus at any moment the ATF can check up on you without a warrant to make sure everything is in check and if you're caught with modifications to it then that's a federal offense. If that gun is stolen or used in a crime and is recovered you are screwed.

In Switzerland it is a law that everyone owns a gun, and guess what? Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the WORLD.

In Switzerland they don't have every person owning an AUTOMATIC WEAPON. Big loving difference. I'm not against gun ownership.
