Hard to find a job without access to showers and clean clothes. Would you hire a guy who looks and smells like stuff? They're walking health hazards.

True, but... Wait. My point would have been stupid... Maybe we should just shoot them all? Or we could create "Homeless Island". It'd be an island somewhere in the pacific that we'd ship all the homeless people to. If they've been homeless for over 6 months, they get shipped off.

Or we could implement systems and checks and balances that would prevent people from becoming homeless in the first place. If we did that, then the homeless population would slowly ebb off to nothing in a matter of time. The problem with this is, is that people are too stuck on greed and the need for material wealth to do anything about it.

If someone didn't want to work so badly that they'd rather be homeless then get a job I'd give them a can of soup and a gold star because they earned it.

Homeless people are typically homeless because they're either mentally or physically incapable of getting a job or keeping a home. It's hypothetically possible that there's some people who might be homeless because they actually don't want to work, but I seriously doubt the number is large enough to even bother noting. Like 1 out of every 2000 homeless people or something.

Most people, even the ones who do not want to work, definitely do not want to be homeless so they suck it up and work. Because you know, being homeless sucks a lot more than going to a job you don't like. Being homeless is a full time job and all you get paid is tips.

If we name it "Homeless Island", we're really limiting ourselves... Why don't we call it "Undesirable Island" and send all of the undesirables there? We could send the poor, the homeless, the drug addicts, the blacks, the immigrants, the Jews, the communists, the homoloveuals, protesters.... The possibilities are limitless! We can start cleaning up American one street at a time!

Hey, why even bother with getting an island? That's just too much money. I think FEMA has plenty of death camps for all the swine flu victims, so why don't we just send them there?

Or we can seal off eastern alaska from the fishing and hunting western alaska and seal off canada and send undesirables there to hunt caribou.

Homeless person: "I'm homeless, can I get some soup?"
Soup person: "Do you have any injuries preventing you from working that you can prove?"
Homeless person: "Um... Well.... No."
Soup person: "No soup for you!"

Pretty much this.

It's a good reason why the current educational system needs a makeover to keep this stuff from happening. I'd like to see them bring the trades classes back to schools, I mean honestly there are thousands of companies crying for trades workers and they simply can't get any capable men or women, even with training provided. Back whenever, you could take the Trade classes if you weren't all that into studying and come out of high-school practically ready for a decent job. And let's face it, I knew plenty of good people who simply didn't like studying, but they were damn good at any sort of manual task.

um, I totally didn't just watch a Michael Moore marathon...

At any rate, you people are making the assertion that homeless people all don't have jobs. Much of the time they run out of money and are forced out of their house but still work to make at least a bit of an income. Much of their expenses come from abusive banks and a broken health care system, both of which could easily be changed with some socialization and regulation.

I still like my idea better.

People are forgetting the "American Dream"...

I blame the out of wack educational system.

No, I'm not. Capitalism is as great thing if you don't let people take a stuff on everything else. We're also a democracy, right? Why should the rich minority benefit more than the poor majority? Health care and the right to not be in debt for your whole life are basic needs, and I don't think they should have privatization. Hospitals make money off of you being sick. So do pharmaceutical companies. Insurance companies make money off of not paying for your sickness. None of this should involve money, as health is a basic human right.

Not matter what someones gonna have to pay for the doctors or staff to manage insurance.

Taxes. We all pay for each other in our times of need.

Which is funny because if you don't pay taxes, you go to jail. Its not like it's a choice anymore.

This country has always had taxes. It was just that the British taxed us without parliamentary representation.
