Window's movie maker, Alternative.

I've been trying to make my latest and greatest video entitled "Master Chief sucks at Counter-Strike too..."
But every time i upload my files, movie maker acts up and crashes. I know it's a stuffty program and it's always slow, but damn i need a better program.
Any suggestions, preferably free, but it doesn't have to be. I can convince my dad too buy.

all the smaller pieces are .avi but i can easily convert if necessary

I put .avi files from my Fraps in Windows Movie maker...

Don't try to import all the files at once. Do like 1 or 2 at a time.
