I'm a bit late to the party but:
At night I lay down on my bed away from my alarm clock/facing my picture of the world on fire, curled up around a pillow, blanket wrapped around my entire body with my head sticking out, everything off except the alarm clock.
If that doesn't work, I lay the opposite way with my feet on the pillow and my head towards the edge, or my head in a corner and my feet towards my alarm clock.
If I still can't fall asleep, it usually means I haven't fapped in awhile. In which case I would have a good one and will most likely have a great night's rest.
And if that still doesn't work, and this only happens like once or twice a year, it usually means I'm too damned excited/nervous because of something and nothing will keep my mind still enough for sleep.
