Throughout human history we have tried to explain things. We hunger for answers, and in our quest for knowledge we try to fill in te blanks sometimes. Back when the Greeks were around, no one knew why lightning struck or why the sea could be calm or violent. Without any way to understand these powerful, natural events they tried to explain it using themselves. People started telling stories of powerful beings that looked like humans but had divine powers. Soon they felt like they understood everything and it became common knowledge that Zeus created lighting or Poseidon controlled the ocean. They had used the one thing they undestood the most (humans) to understand everything else. Today, we know this isn't true because we have used science to understand how it really works. Religions like Christianity try to explain what happens after we die and how we were created but it's stupid to turn to our ancestors for questions that require modern science. Even though humankind can now figure out the answer to almost any question, we still hold on to our old religions. We live in an age of understanding and communication where we don't need to guess. Our instinct trys to lead us down a path of lies and misconception and we follow it like confused children. People want to think that life is about making the best choice when it's really about making the best out of what you didn't choose. Before there were even mammals on the earth, the first oranisms were learning and adapting. Instincts like fearing death or trying to find food became hard-wired into us and slowly we evolved into what we are now. It's scary to think of how lonely and short our lives are, but in the end we just have to try our best because being human is about learning and living and we don't have to answer every question right now. After all, the greatest life is one that ends.

I hate people who think being atheist gives you a defined social status.
Everyone's entitled to their own opinion, you can't expect them to keep it to themselves most of the time.
