Author Topic: CR-18 "Jackal" Mech. (Lego build)  (Read 6801 times)

Meet the Jackal, a 9m tall war machine coated with weapons.

Here you can see all of the weapons on the Jackal

So imagine that you're just walking through the forest with your squad when you suddenly hear loud thumping sounds. You turn around and come face to face with the loving Jackal. You can not run, you can not fight, all you can do is wait until you are torn apart by the Jackal's .50 caliber machine gun or vaporized by it's powerful PPC laser.

The CR-18 is a nice mix of speed and power, and although it may not be as useful against medium mechs, the Jackal is a serious threat against infantry and tanks.

Weapons of the Jackal:
One Short-range Missile launcher
One Particle Projection Cannon (PPC)
One .50 caliber machine gun
Three medium lasers

The Jackal compared to a person.

I built the Jackal to sort of fit into the Battletech/Mechwarrior universe, and I like how it turned out. I'd like comments and constructive criticism.

I really do like mechs.
Such as this one.

rooster pit looks vunerable to anti tank/infantry weapons if the troops using them are up in a sky scraper.

Pretend there's glass there.

Pretend there's glass there.
I was actually going to use one of the roosterpit glass things from my Starwars sets, but none really fit and the one I'm using is 100 times cooler than anything made of glass/clear plastic

Glass can't stop most projectiles.

whatever. :C some transparent hard plating.

Glass can't stop most projectiles.
Bullet proof glass?

You're thinking too hard.

but will that stop lasers or missiles? :C

I think the base is a little too big, though that's personal preference. The feet look sloppily done, and you sort of just slapped on little details. The middle gun should be one of the largest of them, not the tiniest. You used that Exo-Force piece, the round thing in the back of the legs. You did that really well, I was going to use those pieces for my mech but I couldn't pull it off. Your roosterpit was really well done, and I like the turret piece over all.

The minifig doesn't look that good, but the head suits the mech well and I guess that's all that you'll see anyways. The structure of it all was very well done, I like it.

I know the legs are kind of large compared to the rest of the mech, but I didn't have a lot to work with, The feet are my least favorite part to be honest, but I don't know how else to make them without my mech falling over. I intentionally placed the PPC and Missile launcher on the right arm thing because the recoil would push against one side of the torso, causing some rotation instead of knocking it down. Anyway, there are plenty of mechs in the Battletech universe that don't have the big guns in the center:
