Author Topic: I might get a PS3 in 2010, what should I get for it?  (Read 6052 times)

Not to mention PS3's are loud as forget. If I ever got one, it would just be for some games and the BluRay player.

Oh come on now, let's not let this turn violent. Just take some deep breaths, and let our opinions be opinions.*

Although I do agree with you, Caution, you just have to treat it right. No leaving it on overnight, or letting it overheat.

*This hasn't happened, but I am sensing it will.

Disregard my asterix.

I find that a load of bullstuff, I had a 360 for two years and I never once had a problem.
The keyword is you, every single person I know with an xbox has had theirs break twice now, and I'm not saying the console is bad at all but unreliable at times for many it can be.  I'm pretty sure they fixed a number of issues with it anyway so maybe it's perfectly stable now but for a while it was not.  Also get an xbox if you like its selection of games better, get a ps3 if you like its selection of games better, up to you not us.

On a side note, here's Gran Turismo 5's terrible graphics.

I've never had a problem with my 360 that would necessitate a need to repair it. I love the game selection and some of the content associated with it.

I've never personally played a PS3, but I would easily buy one if those new slims had backwards compatibility and I could play all my old games. Just kinda bush league to me.

Yup. I'm no hater, I just prefer my 360.

Also, those actually are some pretty sweet graphics. Who said they were bad?

The PS3's graphics aren't that great.

There I said it.
It's not going to be "that great" if it's cross platform, you'd have to develop a game specifically for the PS3 to take advantage of it's full potential.

Oh. Well, still, it may just be your TV. I have a HD 47 in., and that works great. On the other hand, I used to have a boxy, very square TV that didn't do HD, and that was pretty bad. Depends on what you have.

every one of you loving fail
PC >

and for graphics. 1080p is 1080p same loving thing for any console, they all look as good.
1080p loving sucks, shame on all of you for even thinking that's good. "high definition" is a shameful television term to mislead you.

TV's are what hold back consoles from being great

What the forget? We 'fail' because we have different opinions than you? Consoles wouldn't exist without TVs. And HD is pretty damn good.

Bisjac, you may be respected, but you can still be wrong. In that opinions will never be wrong.

Nocturni, Apparently PS3 has horrible graphics, yet it's, a bluray player?

Anyways,

I think the OP should get a Ps3. A lot of great games are coming out. Like Uncharted 2,MAG,Lostplanet 2 etc.
I downloaded the demo of Lostplanet 2 a week ago and i'm still playing it every night even though it has only 3 levels.

If anything( PC > All consoles )Always.

"HD" is not good. consoles are using video cards that PC's got tired of 6 years earlier. my loving computer monitor is twice any existing tv's quality. at only 300 dollars.
consoles are the poor man's computer games. and the price fits the quality.

Honestly the only reason I think I even have a PS3 is for Gran Turismo 5, which isn't on the PC unfortunately otherwise I could care less for the most part.  PC's obviously are superior but that wasn't his question, and not only that but he wasn't asking between xbox or ps3, he was asking if he should get any additional things for it.

That isn't the matter I was addressing. You said we were idiots because we thought HD was nice, or because we thought that XBox's and PS3's are good. I don't give a flying forget what your opinion is, I just want you to know it cannot and will not be wrong.

HD is pretty damn good

no. HD is a television word. its used instead of resolution, because console gamers are to stupid to understand what that is.
a height of 1080 pixels for modern video games is TERRIBLE!!!!!

tvs get bigger in inches, but unlike computer gaming, its not consistent with resolution. it simply stretches the pixels more and more. the quality actually drops with largers tv's.
consoles hit a dead end a generation ago. and next gen they cannot improve graphics at all. new definition tvs are to far off.

I'd get a PS3. Imo, it's got some better series and exclusive devs, it also has free online and has built in wifi.

The 360's got Rare and uh... no other company comes to mine when thinking of first party games. Not to mention, it'll most likely break on you, you have to pay money to use it online, and wifi adapters are $100.

PS3s also have Bluray, which I actually think is awesome, I've bought a bunch of Bluray movies and enjoy watching them on my PS3.
