Author Topic: I need to make some sort of archive.  (Read 1065 times)

So, a handful of you probably know I have a text file I keep some of my favorite forum quotes in, and I put a new one in every few days, so it's getting bigger. What I want to do is comprise some sort of archive, something where I can sort quotes by author or context, so it's easier to find. Maybe even have a search function included.

PREEMPTIVE COUNTER STRIKE!

Don't say "Ctrl + F" for a way to "archive" please. Saying this I know someone's going to say it, so get it over with.

So, any ideas?

Microsoft Access? I dunno.

Unfortunately I don't have Access.

Uhm.. Windows right?
The almighty wordpad has Hides all your infinately sized Text file ansewers. *I THINK

Maybe. Go to the trouble of putting their name and maybe [] around it or something. I don't know.

EDIT - A handfull of us knew... Now the whole forums knows!!!!! muhwhaahahaha! /fail

I'm sorry but what the forget?

Ill make it simple.
Start menu
All programs
Asscesories
Wordpad.
Lol. it has a search, files can be as big as you computer will let it, i think,
And uhm.. thats it.

EDIT - Awwwwkward...

You're missing the point. The whole organization part.

I'm using Notepad right now anyway.

Dreamweaver? Probably a bit too fancy though. There really isn't a lot you can do. You can list them by your preference or poster's name in alphabetical order. Maybe if your really desperate you could split it into separate files..?

Also, can I have a copy of this? I'm curious as to what quotes are in there :P

I could make something like that. May take a while but I can customize to what you need. The only thing I'll need to find out is how to deploy it.

Unfortunately I don't have Access.
You can try some other freeware database program. MySQL would probably work, but unfortunately you have to use it with a command prompt.

It's interesting to read about all the useless things people waste their time on.

Well, I don't have anything else to do, so why not? Why is it even your concern what I do with my time?

Don't let him get to you brah!

I don't really see the use in it though, ctrl+f will get the job done. I tried googling around but couldn't find anything easy enough to justify the uselessness of it.
