Author Topic: Why does my computer monitor keep saying "No Signal"?!  (Read 2608 times)

I uninstalled something a minute ago and I had to reboot. I like to manually reboot so I turn off my computer, go to turn it back on and my monitor comes on and says "No Signal" on a yellow square over a black screen. Then the power light thing goes from green, to orange. I shake the mouse, hit keys, and different stuff to get it to work, but the only thing that works is to turn it off and back on. But it still says "No Signal". Whats the problem? I have check that my monitor is plugged in securely, and my mouse, and everything. What can I do? I'm on my sisters sucky computer right now. =\

Check the DVI cable / whatever else you use to connect your monitor to your tower.

I just unplugged the cord connecting my monitor to my tower. And plugged it back in. Nothing....

It has two connections, one in the monitor and one in the tower. Replug both.

whatever you uninstalled broke your video drivers?

Unplug the cord from the monitor? I can't.... its like........ stuck in the monitor. It can only unplug from the tower. =\ But still, "No Signal".

@Bisjac: Its always been acting up like this. But I can't seem to fix it for some reason like I usually can. :(

scroll through the settings built into the screen and switch it back and forth from digital to brown townog. that's a simple thing to try

How can I do that when it goes to "No Signal" as soon as I turn it on?

dont need a signal, all monitors (even super old ones) have buttons on them that have settings.
has nothing to do with the computer.
monitor needs to be on of course, but you can either make changes with the buttons themselves, or the buttons popup a little menu built into the monitor that has settings in it, regardless of if any computer has a signal.

Whenever I hit any of the buttons, nothing opens up. I know how to open the monitor menu but it wont open.

then maybe the monitor is broken?
no signal is needed for simple monitor menus.

Well, my dad said the monitor(that came with computer) still has some warranty on it. He said if it still messes up we can take it in and see if they can fix it/swap it for a new one. Anyway, thanks for trying guys. locked
