Author Topic: Recent problems with my connection  (Read 404 times)

I've been having problems with my connection from my new desktop location. It seems to be connected for like 10 minutes then go out for a minute. The signal strength here is on average 40-48%. I get 54 mbps (max possible speed) then it would go down to 48, 36, 24, 18,12,11,5.5,2,1(ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!1 mpbs!) then bam connection out (it lost network signal). I made sure my network was secure and it is on a static channel and the ssid is broadcasting. I can't move the router from its location but i can move the desktop to a new desk. Any ideas?

Wireless is unreliable like that. Try setting up a long Ethernet cable.

The 54mbps/48mbps/etc. is just showing how much the wireless connection can actually handle at maximum with the signal. It's in no way shape or form showing your actual speed unless you're going to 5 mbps.

You're better off with a really long ethernet cable.
