No idea when Halloween is but if you can get some lether/leather like material and either replace all black bits with it or glue it over the top (faster and more comfortable) it would look closer to the Anime pick.  Atm it looks very...plain (no offence intended)

Aside from that great job, i wouldn't even know where to start with making a costume or how to sew it up....
