My mom really wanted me to get my ear pierced in elementary school but I was not going for it. She also always wanted me to dye my hair odd colors which I also didn't want to do. How horrible would it be to be one of those kids that thinks what their parents want and do is the right thing to do.

My mom just tried to make me do what she thought I really wanted to do, kind of the opposite of a parent forcing the kids to do everything they don't want to do. I dunno what you mean about a location. I was always normal as normal could be growing up by choice, I hated when my parents tried to spoil me and I hated fads.

In all reality, and I'm most likely going to appear tribal here, but it's the stone cold truth. The kids that have all these piercings and dress as they do come from a native american reservation. The same reservation which a kid was told by their father that "I don't have to listen to a white guy" The same reservation that has a population of 6th grade gang-bangers who publicly deface traffic signs, electrical maintenance boxes, and even numerous sidings of houses. It's unnerving to hear how many teen pregnancies there are in that area and how many of them are actually caused by cousins. It makes me wonder just what the hell parents are teaching or not enforcing with their kids there.
