Teaching children not to have love ever (if that's what abstinence means)
Its more along the lines of "Wait until marriage you horny bastards!"

Oooh, that makes sense.
Disregard my ''rant'' then.

Our state (AZ) is abstinence-only love ed.  Which means no condoms :(

This should be illegal as it violates the First Amendment.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

Where did I say anything about religion

Abstinence is derived directly from religious beliefs.

"Congress shall make no law"

Pretty sure congress didn't make a low saying stay abstinent until you're married. The closest thing congress has made is where if you have love under the age of 16, both children's parents need to consent for the children. Then if both kids are 16-17 it's perfectly fine, and 18+ it's perfectly fine.

At least, from my understanding. I'm no lawyer so there may be some discrepancies.

When you think about it, condoms prevent way more pregnancys than just teaching kids not to do it.

My school gives out free condoms for people under 16 every friday :D

Abstinence is the religious doctrine of refraining from loveual activity until married. To legislate abstinence only education in public schools is unconstitutional.

You could probably claim abstinence is in the best interest of the children, it means they will wait until they are in a commitment with another person so they will be fully prepared if they have a child, on purpose or otherwise.  They don't have to come out and say "yeah we promote abstinence because we're christians!"

Besides it does not deny anyone the right to have their own religion, so in reality it does not deny people of the 1st amendment. (Unless there's some religion out there that says kids must forget unmarried before adulthood, but as far as I can tell there is no such thing.)
