Author Topic: Caution's Courthouse [ImgHvy]  (Read 922 times)

A very small courthouse I made. I have wanted to make one for a while ever since I saw ranGar's NWB app. This has a lot of inspiration from it, but everything you see was formed from sheer memory, I did not look at the pictures of his application while building. It is sparsely furnished, I'll probably add some better furniture (or more furniture period) to it later, along with the idea of adding windows on the roof.

It's very small but I love how it came out. I like the quaintness of it. I just really like it. It is my best build so far, in my opinion. I was considering using it as a Craftsmen application but I don't think they'd like it enough, plus it is rather too close to ranGar's. I'm a 13k, but I haven't had much experience building.

Brick Count - 1709.
Time - Roughly two hours..

Picture time;

The exterior.

The entry way.

The main court room.

The stairs.

The basement; holding cells and security desk.

Small Courthouse. Where are all the seats?
Nice build though.

A bit small for seats except the benches that I have already installed. Thank you, though.

Green isn't good for this.

The colors of the courthouse don't really look realistic. The arch at the entrance is very poorly made. It doesn't resemble much of a courthouse. Most Courthouses have no windows, because they like the courts to be private. There is no tables for the defense and offense or even chairs for the jury! There are also not enough chairs for the people watching.

It really is hard to believe this took more than 3 hours.

Your ID and experience isn't really much of an excuse for not building good. I've seen new players build very good.

As I said before, I plan to add more furniture later. I got a bit bored of it and attempted to finish it and get it at least halfway done for the time being. It wasn't supposed to be a super intricate arch, I didn't exactly have a lot of room to work with there anyhow. I thought the green looked good for it but apparently not. My aim was not entirely to make it as realistic as I could but just to make it look good.

I also wasn't using my ID to fall back on as an excuse but just for stating. I think that's a bit harsh, but fair enough, I suppose.

You could have at least put some effort into the arch, like make the top round..

You say there's not enough room, but I see a large amount of space that could be used. If you rotate it, you could place a bunch of chairs for the audience, tables for the offense and defense and chairs for the jury.

I could try that, I didn't before because I don't want to jam pack it all in.

I mean, it's nice, but it's just small. I expected something huuuge.

Wow, I was expecting at least half positive feedback. You're all kind of crashing my hopes.

I suppose I just need practice is all.

If you ever get around to renovating or remaking this, take away the windows, rotate it around, and make it on a gray scale on the exterior and wooden look in the interior.

We're commenting on how bad some of the build is. Fix those errors and you'll get your half positive feedback.

Alright, I'll probably just scrap this and begin a new one. Thanks for the tip.

ranGar's NWB app.

I'm flattered :)
I have a couple suggestions though.

Try making the whole structure 3 times bigger. like 3 of what you have next to each other on the long sides. Then make 2 sections of it the courthouse and the 3rd the entrance area. Then you'll have room for seats and things but can keep the judge's desk you already have.

as far as the arch over  the door goes, i'd make it a grey square on top. and then under the arch put grey 1x1x5s

For now thats all i can think of. It shows potential :) I had to half rebuild mine like 3 times before I got stuff looking real nice :)

I would've made it with the three sections in a row, but I would've felt guilty; would've been even closer yet to yours. I appreciate it, though. I like your suggestions, thanks a lot!
