Quake Live - By Blobeh and Truce
http://www.quakelive.com/

What is the real Quake-Live?
Quake-Live is an online browser game where your goal is to frag (kill) as many opponents as you can, unless in a different game mode (ctf, etc.). The movement system in Quake-Live is different from most games. Your character's speed is daringly fast while your jump is close to nothing. If you haven't made the connection yet, the "Quake-like player" in Blockland comes from this game. When you first start a match, you are given a machine gun and a "gauntlet". Once the game starts, depending on the map, you can collect a numerous amount of other weapons such as the railgun or shotgun. Another specific aspect in Quake is that your base health is at 100, but can go beyond it. When your health is above 100 it will slowly drain until it reaches the base. Along with health, you have an armor stat. You start out with 0 armor, but can collect different armor power-ups in each map. Armor doesn't prevent you from dieing, but reduces the damage dealt to you by 66%.
This is just a brief overview of the actual game, if you want to learn more just visit their site.

What is different between the real Quake-Live, and this one?
Truce and I have tried to make this TDM feel as Quake-like as possible. Although we are missing a few minor aspects of the game, other weapons, etc., the two are both very much alike. The damage, speed, and jump force are all about the same. Truce has also created some scripts specifically for this TDM including the armor stat and rotating items.

How does this game mode work?
The goal of this game is much like Quake-live, you try to frag your enemies and stay alive. The main difference in this is that you only have one life. The reason why I had players only have one life is for obvious reason like spawn killing. This also forces players to be less careless with their life, for if they die then they must wait until the round ends to keep playing.
Also like Quake-Live, you start out with two weapons: the SMG (machine gun) and a hammer (gauntlet). There are four other weapons located around the map that you can collect and use however you see fit. These guns include the Rocket Launcher (Rocket Launcher), Alien blaster (Railgun), Shotgun (Shotgun), and Laser Pointer (enhanced Lightning Gun). You may know some of these weapons and their normal capabilities, but I have made a script which modifies the power / speed of projectiles / other weapon related characteristics that scale to the Quake-Live standards.

What are the weapon characteristics?
There are six weapons located throughout the Quake-Live map.

TF2 SMG

Quake-Live weapon: Machine Gun
Muzzle fire type: Rapid-fire
Damage: 8 damage / hit
Location: Starting weapon
Other information: This weapon's damage has been multiplied by 2 from the original model. After 25 shots are fired, you must "reload" which takes about 2 seconds.

Hammer

Quake-Live weapon: Gauntlet
Muzzle fire type: Rapid-fire / melee
Damage: Instant kill
Location: Starting weapon
Other information: This weapon's damage has been increased dramatically from the original model.

Alien Blaster

Quake-Live weapon: Railgun
Muzzle fire type: Single-shot
Damage: 80 damage / shot
Location: On top of a building as well as in the corner of the basement area.
Other information: This weapon can be fired about once every second. The projectile speed and damage done have been increased from the original model.

TF2 Shotgun

Quake-Live weapon: Shotgun
Muzzle fire type: Five bullet blast
Damage: 15 damage / bullet (75 damage for full blast)
Location: Near a couple corners of the map.
Other information: This weapon's damage has been increased from its original model.

Rocket Launcher

Quake-Live weapon: Rocket Launcher
Muzzle fire type: Single Fire
Damage: Insta-kill with direct impact plus explosion damage
Location: Center bridge
Other information: The muzzle velocity, or speed of the projectile, has been increased from its original model. This gun takes four times as long to respawn than other guns.

Laser Pointer

Quake-Live weapon: Lightning Gun
Muzzle fire type: Constant damage
Damage: 3 damage / hit, rate of fire is very high
Location: The top of the tallest towers
Other information: This weapon's damage has been increased from its original model. This weapon's original model leaves a mark on whatever you shoot it at, but has been removed due to abusive damage caused.

What does the build look like / what map is it on?
This Quake-Live server has been build on a semi-recently released map made by Pandan: "Techno-Urban v2"
Here are some screenshots of the build:

The Center Bridge:

The Rooftops:

The Basement:

DISCLAIMER:
Although I have modified them, all add-ons within this server are not considered mine! Do not think I am implying that I made all of this.
Just to make people feel better, here are some credits:

Blobeh: Co-creator of the project.
Truce: Second Co-creator of the project.
Pandan: For creating the map.
Space Guy: For a few of the weapons used (TF2 Shotgun, TF2 SMG, Laser Pointer).
Ladios: For creating the Alien Blaster.
And lastly, everyone who contributed their ideas to help keep this TDM strong.

Thank you for reading, please feel free to comment on any aspect of this build with x/10.
Also, any suggestions that you think would make this TDM more efficient or Quake-Like, please post them here.

Looks like it's going to be fun.
First post get

RELOADING? WHAT IS THIS MADNESS.

I don't see why you didn't make the shotgun fire more pellets.

And the alien blaster could have been made a hitscan weapon with the ability to go through multiple players.

Not to mention that the jump in all Quake games is about twice as high as the Quake-like player's.

Until Anybody finishes the models, we're using pre-made weapons.

"Quake-Live Player" has more jump than the default "Quake-Like Player".

TF2 Shotgun

Quake-Live weapon: Shotgun
Muzzle fire type: Five bullet blast
Damage: 15 damage / bullet (75 damage for every bullet)
Location: Near a couple corners of the map.
Other information: This weapon's damage has been lowered from its original model.
The TF2 Shotgun does about 40 damage. "lowered"?

He was a bit rushed when typing it, so he probably got mixed up: He originally made it so if all bullets hit, it would OHKO, but he lowered it to 75.

Oops, I did make a mistake, thanks for pointing that out.

Nice guys.
10/10

Looks just like quake :P

EDIT: I'll come your server to play this some time.

How did you get the tf2 shotgun?

I'm not a fan of the build/map. The add-ons, however, sound neat.

good job on it, i find it fun =D
RLs are useful to get arround and dodge things, i find the best weapon is RL, then get the laser pointer with it
Hammer

Quake-Live weapon: Gauntlet

Damage: Instant kill
Location: Starting weapon
Other information: This weapon's damage has been increased dramatically from the original model.

also, the laser pointer that you're using hits 90 a sec i think (3 per 33 miliseconds = 9 damage per 1 hundreth of second = 90 per second)
and for the hammer, why not use the sword instead?

and for the hammer, why not use the sword instead?
I guess the only reason it was the hammer is because when I first made the server, I tried enabling the least amount of add-ons as I could, and because the hammer isn't really an add-on I just used that.

This is epic. Can I have the TF2 shotgun per chance?

Bump, Just because it deserves it.
