I knew what the Gunpowder Plot was in like 5th grade.

And your point?

If Inverted knew it when he was young, it's common knowledge and everyone over that age who doesn't know about it is a dumbstuff.

Or, that has been his argument in the past.

The Gunpowder Plot, albeit important historically, is not as important as knowing who Gandhi was.

So you are ignorant, not stupid.

Why is knowing Gandhi important? I mean, I've know about him and who he is for a while now, but I don't see why it's to important to know about him. Yes he practiced civil disobedience on a large scale and India got it's Independence because of it, but it's not something you really need to know for everyday life.

This is my viewpoint as well, but Inverted begs to differ.

I was actually reading about Guy Fawkes the other day. It's a pretty interesting topic.

um

It's important because Gandhi was MLK's inspiration, as well as being responsible for creating a new nation.

Do you want to know why the Civil Rights Movement and knowing the nation of India exists are important?

My statement is based on the fact that people learn most of what they know based on movies and television. When Baywatch came out, despite the obvious jiggle factor, people actually did learn how to save lives and use CPR properly. It's not always a bad thing, but there are exceptions.

I knew this when I was like 8.  By reading some book.

Yes, I would like to know. Well, I'd like to know unless you are going to state the obvious reasons like racism, the contributions that came out of India, etc. If it's going to be effecting my current safety or my well-being in the future, then please, continue.

But honestly, who created India and the inspiration of the CRM doesn't really effect my day-to-day life.

um

India = major player in the world economy

Civil Rights Movement = Everywhere in our social relations within the United States

The United States would be very different if the CRM never happened, and the world would be very different if India, Pakistan, and Bangladesh weren't independent nations. So yes, they do affect your day to day life.

So you're saying those don't affect your day to day life?
