Converting Wings 3D models to .DTS

I'm trying to teach myself how to model, and Wings 3D was the easiest, in my opinion, to use. I made a test gun but I do not know how to save / convert it into a .DTS file.
I looked around the forum a little and I'm guessing that you need another program like Milkshape to load the Wings model then save as a .DTS. Is this right?

What's Wings 3D? Use Blender to export it?

You cannot convert from wings directly to DTS.
Wings lacks many required things to compile a dts.

You need to export to .3ds then import that .3ds to milkshape or blender.
