Author Topic: Zoneark discovered my unsecure upload system.  (Read 38575 times)

Just because many of us would never ever try to mess with a website that doesn't mean everyone is like that. Some are more curious, others are bored and then we have people hell-bent on causing problems.
Why should Pandan even have to worry about malicious files?

Why should Pandan even have to worry about malicious files?

Why should everyday people have to worry about break-ins, shootings, road rage, murder, serial killers, arsonists, rapists, or any of the other sick twisted minds that lurk this world?

All for one simple reason, people are unpredictable.

The bolded area implies to me that Pandan was relating Zoneark's ban to his security breach. If you see it a deifferent way that I do, that is your opinion.

Or if you could read between the lines.

There's something about that, that makes me laugh...

Tom

I'm not saying that Zoneark isn't a jerk for doing this, but you can't simply say that it wasn't Pandan's fault.
Sometimes a perfectly good person will use a security hole just so they know its there. (Ephi getting Kalph's pass.)

Wasn't my password.

Or if you could read between the lines, he was implying that Zoneark is a malicious user. Thus his ban.
This.

Destroyer,
I wasn't implying that he was banned because of what he did to my website.
That would be silly.

I know, it was a text file with your session ID, but password is so people can actually understand what I'm talking about.

Yes, and fill your computer with water in case it catches on fire too.
YOU JUST NEVER KNOW BRO.

If you get shot while walking down the street and die you deserve it for not wearing a bulletproof vest and the shooter shouldn't be put in prison

I don't know what the recent fad is with people making ill-contrived brown townogies to try and prove something, but the purpose of an brown townogy is to find a similar every-day situation that people can better understand in order to convey a point.

How many of you have gone onto a "free admin" server and kicked or banned everyone on it? I'm willing to bet a lot of you have. In this case, Pandan made a "free script execution" server and someone went and broke stuff. I wonder how you guys would respond if someone posted a thread saying "Zoneark discovered my super admin password in the welcome message". This isn't a discussion about whether it was "wrong" of Zoneark to do that (and for the record, he was banned for being a serial starfish and not for this little escapade) - this is about Pandan accepting the blame and not bitching about his own inability to google "php uploader security" because he believes in the goodness of human nature.

In this case it was a bit different as he didn't advertise it!
It wasn't a 'free admin' server, it was a server where it just so happened that the SA password was quite guessable. Its not that he advertised or anything, as you seem to imply.

Seriously though...
Zoneark shouldn't have done what he did.
And look where he is now.

Banned.

Yeah, looks well established to me. Maybe I should try and read harder.

Sigh, my upload page (Which i can't disclose because people will spam upload it because it lacks a security system)

He didn't advertise his unsecured upload page?

Read man.

Please, you know, in future.

Fair enough. Although you managed to miss the other (vastly more relevant) point I mentioned. Unfortunately ignorance does not work so well as a rebuttal.

Okay, okay.

I understand he would have advertised the page itself, but I doubt he said that it was unsecure. Correct me if I am wrong though, he could have been collaborating.
