And what a good moral code it is!

Who is it that should be put to death again? Oh right, it's homoloveuals (leviticus 20:13), adulterers (leviticus 20:10), disobedient children (deut 21:20-21), women who are not virgins on their wedding night (deut 22:13-21), all non-christians (luke 19:27), anyone accused of wickedness by at least 2 people (deut 17:2-7), anyone who works on the sabbath (exodus 35:2-3).

Oh boy! Looks like I'm going to hell, along with some of my lady friends...

and the bible has such respect for women! like how it's disrespectful for them to speak in church (1 cor 14:34-5), or how women cannot teach or have authority over men (1 timothy 2:12).

but you know, it's all right since you can just become a disciple of christ, but first you have to hate your family! (luke 14:26). but first we must have a sword, so sell all your clothes to buy one (luke 22:36).

Old or new testament?

Oh.

Tom, you're an idiot. Dig, it's spelled bigot. Godik, cry some more. Rughugger, hi. GMP, that has been my argument for a long time now about how Biblical morality is definitely not a good thing.

Long enough to reply. I was hoping for a debate between you and Inv3rted, and as those are always entertaining.

It's been established that we disagree about the existence of God. But he acknowledges what science has shown us, unlike Tom here.

Because these topics are good discussions and it really challenges my faith.

Listen, if God really loved you, he would understand following the evidence to a logical conclusion. If the only reason that you're on one side of an argument is because you feel the need to maintain a belief against the evidence, you are living proof of the detriment to humanity that is religion.

I hope you Christian cigarettes are keepin' Hell nice and toasty for me

The fires of hell are fueled by bigotry. There's plenty to keep it warm.

Skele > Science > The Bible

What do you mean by science? Theories or proven experiments?

Also scientist can lie.
So can the profits that wrote the bible.

No prophet has ever existed. All of those who people claim to be are not prophets.

This is the best thing anyone has ever said about this community.

Guys, I'm Jesus.
And the bible is a more reliable source because of that...?

This is the most accurate thing anyone has ever said about this community.

If you even did the slightest bit of research, you'd see that current religious beliefs have moved past this simply because of the change in times. There were no police or jails back then. Sure, they had dungeons, but those always served as waiting lines for execution. The only real form of punishment for anything in that time was dismemberment or death or death by dismemberment. Anyone who went into a dungeon, innocent or otherwise, never got out alive, save for crucifixion. Then they were being used as an example.

And if you also taken a look at the history of the bible here and there, you'll have seen that it's content has been changed here and there over time to be more acceptable to the moral codes of the day. Martin Luthor thought the church was full of crap in it's teachings so he changed it a bit and look how far it progressed then. Oh wait, you wouldn't know that because you only surf propaganda sites.

I wouldn't mind religion if it wasn't literally a force holding humanity back. This includes simply taking morals from it. That's like me reading Wheel of Time (excuse my less popular example, as it's the only one I'm familiar with that has different morals by any extent) and deciding it was OK for women to discriminate against men, so long as I didn't start believing in the One Power and the Dark One.

Ever since the women's rights movement, women have been discriminating against man to a point where they now try to show superiority wherever possible and claim injustice whenever a man calls them on their bullstuff. So much for equality. Give someone an inch for their rights and they go a light year. Doesn't matter who you are or what you go for.
