You can't force the internet to behave, but you can expect them to act mature and civil.
no you can't, where the hell have you been you roostersucking asswipe?

Then tell people to quit being so butthurt and actually think about what they believe. I wasn't always an atheist. All it took was a little thinking.
If it's wrong in your eyes they're dead to you, pretty much how you said you wished that The Russian guy to die in a fire because of his beliefs.

How do you know if there is a god or not your basically calling people an starfish, moron, idiot for no absolute reason.

Oh so everyone's thought is "this is the internet, so I can do what I want because it doesn't hurt me, who gives two forgets if it hurts someone because they can't do stuff to me".

That's great.

I would debate with people, although I would indeed restrain my language. Fact is, on this forum people don't have to be stopped on the street. They can choose to ignore people and they can respond whenever they want.

Exactly. Can you not choose to ignore someone saying they believe in Heaven? You're not going to change their mind, so stop raging when they refuse to conform to your belief.

Keep in mind, I would argue against someone who was attacking you for your belief. I dislike it either way.

You're trying too hard.

go out more and try and have arguments with people. It's scary stuff to face the prospect of getting beaten to a pulp. The internet is so much more comfortable knowing full well you can disagree with some one and face no physical harm.

the end was unnecessary, but the first bit is true

then all for the better so we don't have to deal with people we would eventually not get along with anyway

I was using a meme on the internet. Sue me. I didn't actually mean for him to die in a fire. Taking it into the context of a discussion in person wouldn't work because it's not relatively well known.

In the case of The Russian, his beliefs are actually a detriment to him and the rest of the world.

Just because I start an argument does not mean I rage. I can indeed work myself up, but that only happens when people are being exceptionally dull. Just because I swear does not mean I am raging. I debate with people because it is an intellectual exercise that helps me think about things in a broader sense.

and swearing is more of a spur of the moment kind of thing

Inverted is the atheist equivalent of those annoying christians that want to convert you.

Inv3rted. debates with WhatevaGuy or Molasses are never intellectual, don't pass them off as such

probably too lazy to beat on peoples doors

The definition of "internet tough guy".

This isn't about just you, it's about everyone who wages the war. You may be calm in your debates at some times, but other people aren't, and just go batstuff.

I guess if it was possible to have an intelligent discussion about religion, it wouldn't be so bad, but from what I've seen it always ends up with people slandering the other person's beliefs.

Sometimes it starts that way.
