Author Topic: New to Blockland forums...or am I?  (Read 3991 times)

This is just a shout out to everyone on the forums, or people that I might run into every once in awhile. I finally decided to make an account after having the game for 2 years and I have a few questions.

1.Why doesn't someone make a variable system that uses multiple variables on the same brick? This could enable us to create many new things! (Such as my Monopoly WIP)

2.Does ANYONE read the welcome messages? I've  noticed people asking questions the welcome message answers a myriad of times over the past few years.

3.What is up with boxy builds? Boxy builds are boring, yea it's easy, but why make something square when you could make it circular? Or like some poly-gon? Or maybe even like some AWESOME-gon?

4.Question to the people that make scale models of items: Do you restrict yourself to only items from blockland? Or do you venture out and recreate things around other games?

And my final question...
5.Has anyone here made their own house on Blockland?

Variable/Conditional Events
That is, if you learn to use the new ones.

2.Does ANYONE read the welcome messages? I've  noticed people asking questions the welcome message answers a myriad of times over the past few years.
Guess not.

That seems to be the easiest way to go for most people. I just use the flat roof and square building as a temporary piece until I can add to it or make the roof.

4.Question to the people that make scale models of items: Do you restrict yourself to only items from blockland? Or do you venture out and recreate things around other games?
People make things from other games all the time. In fact, it is starting to piss off some people.

And my final question...

I've tried, but I failed miserably.

Yea I'm working on learning the new variables, haven't had much time to though.

I never really thought of people making original blockland items, but I'm sure an original set has been established, and with the release of that AWESOME new mage pack I'm sure it will spark some creative buildings/add-ons.

You know there was this one guy, and I really regret not saving the map, or writing down his name, but he made his entire street in New York (a smaller one), to scale, with the most amazing details I have ever seen, truly wish I could have saved it to learn from it.

People don't read welcome messages.
That's why I use Grules.
Because people don't read that either.

I think boxes are pretty awesome. There's tons of fun things you can do with them.

Here's a couple of box shaped buildings that look awesome in real life, shouldn't be very hard to get them started in Blockland.

Boxes are used for more reasons then just being a cheap and easy shape to build and convenient to fit most furniture in. They can be quite attractive. Too many people try to round them off or dress them up with slopes.

Sometimes the box likes to be a box and should, in fact, stay a box.

Yeah, but those boxes have flair. A 32x32 baseplate with 5 high walls and a 32x32 baseplate roof is not attractive.

And would remain equally unattractive if it had rounded edges. You can't fix a broken design through ornamentation.

A month or two ago I had taught my dad how to play Blockland, since he is an engineer. Within about a week he had made a perfectly scaled replica of our house.

1 - Download it...even the old version of variables had a multiple variable system...
2 - I do...Besides...most say 'Hello'
3 - It's called inexperience or simple lack of time. Also, a square or rectangle is a polygon
4 - Yet again, look on the addons section
5 - If you mean real house - no...Why bother, you can make a mansion for FREE

So basically, go away, and stop asking stupid questions

Also...houses are usually sqaure!

I have the variable system, I just haven't learned the new version.

Sorry I wasn't being specific, I was refering to servers that use rules as their welcome message.

Anyway why should people stick with the boring square with a few windows thrown in? Why can't you like... Make a GIANT shoe into a shoestore =P

My dad can't use computers well.
Barely at all, actually.
