Author Topic: Lost my ability to host somehow.  (Read 629 times)

I havn't been able to host for about a year, sicne I got a new router. I start a server, and accedently forget to make it single player. People start joining, and I get all happy and stuff. About 50 minutes into the server, everyone freezes. So, I tought I had crashed. I close the server, and start it right back up. My freind alerts me that it's dead. How the hell did this happen?

Re-portfoward. I have had this problem before. Its because you got the new router.

I've had this router for ages, now. II checked my ports, they're fine.

If you do not have a static IP it is possible that your local IP has changed, check that your port forwarding is for the right address.
Also check that your firewall is not blocking Blockland
And, how do you know that you have lost the ability to host.

No one can join. My server is dead. :C

You have confirmed this with other people? Or are just assuming as no-one is joining.

If it is the first - Try to do the things I mentioned in my first post.

its a hour, and if you have netgear, or whatever the other one sold in walmart besides linksys, you have a hour DNS refresh, just like me, it refreshes your DNS, and changes routers local ip, like mine changes randomly from 192.168.*.*, so my actual IP changes like 206.188.237.*, what you need to do is go in to your routers page, right on front page, should say "Auto DNS Refresh" you cant uncheck this, but right under it, it says "Change IP?" uncheck that, im running netgear

This will not effect it. Standard port forwarding will never require your external IP. As for DNS(Domain Name System), it is just a lookup - it resolves things like www.google.com into an IP address which is connectable, I believe you are talking about DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) - meaning your internal IP's can change (if you are not using a static IP as I stated in a previous post) and are automatically assigned depending on usage. So the steps to still follow are to check that your internal IP matches your Port Forwarding rules.

Still not working. :C

I have this same problem, but with a different model of a Netgear router. P.S, My B-day was on Nov 21. :3

Your ISP changes your local IP every month or so. Just change the IP on your router settings for Blockland ports.
