I don't know what you mean when you say "setting", but you do have to forward your ports to host an internet server. And before you ask, there's a tutorial at the top of this section. On the contrary, if you want to host a LAN server (this means playing with someone on your network, i.e. connected to the same router) you don't need to port forward.
