Author Topic: Server dying after a few minutes.  (Read 753 times)

So, I've recently port-forwarded, and, I host my server. People can connect for a little while, then all of a sudden, they cannot. The server dies some how automatically. I do not have a firewall, or any other type of protection. I have port-forwarded 3 or 4 times now, each with no avail. If you have any idea as to what may be causing this problem please tell me.

Cheers.

Theres something called "Advanced Options" in the server start menu.
somewhere in there, theres 'Domain Timeout' or something. Set that to -1.

Either Lugnut's solution is Right, Or your internet connection needs steroids. :P

Lugnut, it's already set at -1. And, as for the steroids. That cannot be it :O I have quite an epic connection.

Actually, I'm not to positive about the connection. But, this is what I got from speedtest.net

Sorry for le triple post. But, I'm really anxious to get my server up and running.

Does the computer you host from connect to your router wirelessly?

For the most part, yes. I some times use the cable, but, the cable is ripped and it loses connection occasionally, so, yes, let's just say that I do only connect via wifi.

What kind of internet do you have? Like cable, dial-up, etc.

Bump :/ I would appreciate help if possible :/

Small chance that it may be your firewall.
Try disabling it then Start your server.

He dosen't have a firewall. Read before you post.

I would recommend getting a decent ethernet cable and plugging your computer into the router. Wifi is known to cause intermittant connections... If you wish to monitor it.. Go into your command prompt and do "ping (YOUR ROUTER IP HERE) -t"    Eg - "ping 192.168.0.1 -t" This continually tracks the connection to your router and tells you the time it takes. If you keep getting random spikes of higher times while on wifi the wifi I probably your problem.

Internet explorer has a defalt installed fire wall, most people don't know its there.
