Author Topic: Four Corners  (Read 2639 times)

Well, 2 days ago I thought of an idea. This idea's origins lie back in that game you used to play in elementary school. You have 4 corners loaded with people and 1 person in the middle. The people on the corners are just your average blockheads, but the person in the center is the Counter. The goal for the regular blockheads is to survive the crafty moves of the Counter and be the last one standing. To be the Counter, you must win one of these rounds (be the last one standing). The Counter can only 'win' if he wipes the playing field clear without having a last person. (Basically killing the last # of people in one blow, the # must be over 1) If you want more information check this link.

While starting this project, I ran into some problems. I built the arena (which is a simple build) and prepared the bricks by setting up brick names, but then I needed some events. The problem was that I'm pretty lousy at events, sure I can do some stuff, but I couldn't do anything I needed here. So, while working on this project, LoserHero decided to stop by. Being a good friend of mine, I asked Loser if he was any good at events. He replied "yes" and decided to help me out. In conclusion, all of the game events were remade by LoserHero, therefore he deserves a huge amount of credit. Although all of these events are excellent, there are occasional faults so don't be surprised if you see one happen. They are easily fixable and only last for a couple of seconds. Nonetheless, this game still requires a fully-active host.

Anyway, sorry for the "wordwall," I'll get on to the pictures.

Explanations:
1-2: This is just the announcement and countdown so players know what's coming and how much time they have left.

3: Explosions occur 5 seconds after the decision was initially made. These explosions either kill players or fling them away. In this picture you also see the walkways disappearing, which is necessary.

4-5: Overview screenshots

6: If you saw in Picture 4-5, they have different centers! These centers are the minor things I've edited for difficulty levels. Although, each one has the 'Bold-9' color in order to hide the buttons from the outside view. (Bold-9 of the default colorset, which you cannot see transparent bricks through.) There is this version, which allows the players to view the guy, the medium version, which has a layer of black transparent bricks to obscure the view a bit, and the hard version. In the hard version, the center is surrounded by regular black bricks, no transparency. Still, the Counter can see the players by using the 3rd person view and looking out of the transparent roof, while the players cannot view him/her.

7: The corner selector.

Thanks for viewing it, so far the majority of the people who have tried it seem to like it. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Who is this "Koopz"?
But it looks really nice.

Simple concept, but addictive.

I love these kinds of games, reminds me of one of the minigames in Mario Party where you called out a random fruit into that Gamecube microphone that came with it.

Ha, I loved that one. It was fun to just yell gibberish and see what it came up with.

It'd be fun if they actually explode in RL.

cool, just make the info at the top a little shorter....

very fun i played that last night

Save? :o

Oh, and do the walk ways collapse between the corners?

Yes, when a corner explodes the walkway disappears with it.

Nice Job! I love this game.
