Should Badspot make a referral program, so we can advertise Blockland and earn a commission?

Yes!
No!
Only for big sites!

RTB only gets about 15,000 hits a month (really not much), 50% of which are direct links from here and the other 50% are search engine links from keywords like "blockand", "rtb" and "blockland add-ons".

I don't think anyone there doesn't have Blockland already.

I have to say, you just walked straight into a Brick wall on that one.

Am I missing something here?

I think rather than virtual currency, you should just have something that will keep track of the points. So your prize for referral is bragging right.

Example:
Person 1: I referred 60 people.
Person 2: Oh, I'm so jealous, you're a much better person than I.

Not sure about Packer, but I think FrAgGEr just means the similarity of the words. ("Ephialtes" "affilates")

I think Packer (and a bunch of other people) may be getting confused between affiliate programs and referral programs. It's understandable though, the differences are subtle and not as noticeable in this case.

An affiliate programme would only be beneficial if you guys had sites with high fresh traffic to put links & banners on, which I don't think anyone does.

I got a site, that could bring in people soon, but I still need to make it. Affiliate programs would come in handy in chat-rooms because, that is were bunches of people come in and will see the ad. It would be the cheapest way for Badspot to advertise anyways.

them programs encourage some kind of need for a fake currency, or payed e-snake that would make things really suck in the community.

there would just be kids spamming all over the net and coming back to brag about how good they did.
its sad

i will trade you 150 brick-dollars for a smiley face shirt decal

That is not what we are talking about! Stay on topic or leave.

Could be a good idea but I think Blockland grows enough on its own.

So what is an affiliate program then?

An affiliate program is where the site owner distributes links, banners or widgets that when used can tie any resulting transaction or page views back to the affiliate (person who put the links on their site) usually so they can earn a commission off the transaction value.
