THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH VISTA
ITS XP THAT'S WRONG.

My XP run's fine. In fact, some may say XP is better than Vista.
I'm overlooking my opinion and I might've been to harsh. Vista's pretty beast, and it's hella better than the stuff I got.

This is able to be disabled. It did help me once though.

It wasn't a virus or anything. Windows Registry messed up a bunch of drivers/devices.

I would also like to mention this was all because of a ragequit in Mirror's Edge where I turned off the computer with Mirror's Edge still running

They're just butthurt that they don't know two stuffs about the problem at hand, so they blame vista.

Go onto task manager and see if you have 'relevant knowledge' running in the processes.
That'd most likely be the cause of things not opening etc. It's a particularly nasty adware that I had to pay $25 to fix :(

My Vista laptop is messing up

-Steam does not start Could be relevant knowledge
-It cannot connect to any networks Could be relevant knowledge, maybe a different virus
-It attempts to install an unknown driver upon startup maybe a different virus
-I randomly get mouse lag relevant knowledge
-Upon logging in the mouse cannot interact with anything for half a minute relevant knowledge
-Wrong resolution, resolution cannot be changed a different virus

On my Ubuntu partition firefox crashes upon start relevant knowledge,
 and I cannot install any new applications.  maybe a different virus

anyway the only problem now is the internet not working so ill just reinstall today
