If you're not on Verizon, I'd say go with this. If you want to buy from HTC and you're on Verizon, go with the HTC Droid, I have one and absolutely love it. Some say it's even better than the Motorola Droid, but I haven't played around with it much to form any opinion on it.
Anyway, the myTouch, Hero, and Droid Eris are all kind of the same thing for different carriers. They all run Android OS and they all pretty much rock.
ninjedit: I also think that the Droid Eris is better than the iPhone in almost every category except the media player.
