Another problem with school is that individual districts have too much control over what is taught in science. Science is science, no matter what. It doesn't change geographically.

My teacher was joking today about differences between education in the North and South. I commented that the major difference was "we learned Biology, they learn Creationism."

Prepare you for the workforce.
Problem? Our classrooms are still using the same design; The industrial classroom. It was designed to educated factory workers. It's totally outdated and unequipped to be an effective teaching tool.

God its loving stupid.
I so agree with you when you say that homework is more important than all of the tests.
In most of my classes, homework is more than 25% of my grade. All the teachers sat "You need to do homework to score well on the tests"

Yeah because the tests count as the same amount as homework.
In my science class I have gotten an 100% on every test. Why? Because she doesn't give homework, I just study and do well on tests. Homework drags my grade down because its tedious and unnecessary, not to mention I have at least and hour everyday for each subject.

Basically I do this;
Wake up.
Go to school.
Come home.
Do homework.
Go to bed.

Occasionally Ill have some time to go on the forums or play BL, but more than 12 hours of my day is school, and the other 12 is sleeping, and eating/pooping.

Whats funny too is that Everything we have done in English and history I have known prior to the semester.

I can't stand doing homework. It takes 3 problems for me to understand how to do something in math but I simply get bored when I have 17 more to do and it's the exact same stuff. I have an 82 average even though I almost always get 95 or higher on my tests. You know why my average is low? HOMEWORK. Seriously...
Thats just like me with loving math. I know how to do the loving problem already do i really need to do an extra 30 more? My advanced science teacher loving knows how to teach. He gives use just enough problems for us to remeber the work. Shoulda did my homework in advanced math. that i got kicked out of

Just for the information of anyone reading this topic;

Homework is not meant to be fun, interesting, or entertaining in any way. It is supposed to be repetitive, it is probably going to be boring, and you will probably think of better things you could be doing. Homework is practice for tests, The more homework you do the more you will understand what is being taught, and (in my opinion, at least) the longer you will remember the curriculum.

...But I never do it either.

I'm am now doubting that you read the whole 2 pages of this thread.

My civics teacher said it the best in my opinion. In his exact words: Public school is nothing more than the Government's way of training you to pay your taxes. They don't care what kind of job you get or what you make of yourself, just as long as you know how to pay them.

The more i am on this fourms the more depressed i get and that post is NOT helping.

I love how I can always finish my homework, no matter how long it is.

Anyway, it really is to prepare you for the "working world." While some make take alternative routes away from it, they're preparing us to join the mainstream so we can "splash out other droplets." While this does somewhat work, it is, like most things (which is quite unfortunate), flawed.

I laughed, but I must disagree. I'm as far south in Louisiana as you can get and I go to a Catholic school, but I didn't learn about "Creationism" in my Biology class last year. :/

Dammit, the only way to fix getting depressed about the world is to nail up every orifice of your house and fap 24/7.

Our prime as the top educated country in the world was in the late 50s and early 60s. Today, we are the 10th most educated country around the world. It make sense(according to you).
