Author Topic: Building PC  (Read 1088 times)

I'm planning on spending the next half a year or so working up cash for my own built pc, and I'm wondering what you guys think of what I've come up with. It's not final due to the fact stuff is always getting better. I'm trying to keep on a low budget, like 1000-1500$ (plenty), so don't suggest anything like tri-sli or something. And I'm not a hardware genius so there are possibly a few mistakes.

Yeah, I'd say if you're planning on getting the computer in a year, you may want to keep updating your parts list, cuz stuff comes out fast.

Once Nvidia release their gt300 lineup the ati cards should go down in price by the time you buy your pc.

Dude, you should totally get tri-sli.

You should get the four-way SLi mobo from eVGA and four GTX 285's :>

2 HD5970's > 4 GTX285's

Meant 5970 not 5070.

2 HD5970's = ~$1,300
4 GTX 285's = ~$1,600

GTX285 has SLIGHTLY better performance, but no DX11.

I'd say ATi wins.

then four GTX 380 I don't care.

I forgot to say, I'll be spending around 1500$ at maximum.

You lucky.  I had 300 as my original budget, but i bumped it up to 700.  I have a 3.1 dual core AMD Phenom processor, Win 7, 4 GB of ram, a cheap power supply, a cheap CD drive, a cheap case and a relatively cheap network card. Cost me about $730  D:  Was worth it though :D

I was originally shooting at about one thousand, but I decided that if I were to spend a thousand dollars, might as well go the extra couple hundred to have it much stronger and last longer.
