How long do you get banned for breaking the rules?

I know that for posting ambiguous topics I got perma'd I think. For giant text spam I got 1 week ban, and for advertising other forums I got 2 week ban.

That's what I know, but what about all the others? If you don't understand if your so dumb, put it this way for example:

I think it all depends on how exactly you break a rule and how often you've broken one

yeah, it shouldnt.

i got banned once, for one week cross posting. you get banned about a month for swearing, and years 1+ for something really drastic, my friend is banned for a year for god-knows-what.
