Lightning spell!

The lightning bolt branches off as it spreads out and only damages if a bolt hits you. There would be a yellow flash and a very small delay to give the person being attack a warning.

You could use a special rubber shield to block the damage from the bolts and the rubber could be found as an item from trees.
