Author Topic: Maleware in Addons folder - Locked, not caused from a downloaded addon  (Read 4201 times)

Virus scare in the Blockland Forum is like a Flu Epidemic in real life.

My firewall doesn't say anything about my computer, especially not BL stuff.

A VIRUS in a BLOCKLAND add-on?!?
what has blockland come to?

Virus protection has gotten lazy and turned to their "community" or the public.

What the forget.

When I got bloxel it said "Oh this was a virus defined by our community" Norton said.

I use AVG on any other Windows computer, but what the hell.

If you download lots of random files from the internet and you aren't careful you will probably get a virus.

That's really just the BL add-on forum in a nutshell.

What file could be, the virus should be deleted or they will have to remove the file.
What is the name of it?

It came up again, and I got it. It was in brick_2X_Cube.zip, it was called m32.bzz .

Deleted it. You guys might want to check it as well, it was trying to execute like 50 things.

Post the offending files.

It's impossible for Blockland to run an executable file that is contained in a zip, and the zip file itself cannot harm you.  This is probably a false positive.  But don't go opening the zip files that you've downloaded and start running any executables you find inside.

A virus attached itself to a file in my RTB V2 addons folder, which has every addon. I got it locked down though, the folder. :S

If your antivirus can find an infected folder, it can find an infected file.
Please post more information- Antivirus logs, the infected add-on, time/datestamp, etc.

Likely a false positive, given that add-ons contain code.
