Author Topic: Lag issues  (Read 1174 times)

This is not a help topic about the mysterious lag where when you enter a server and stay on for awhile it will have the lag at the top and wint unfreeze unless you blah blah blah blah...

This is a topic about lag issues in game. I made this bowling alley awhile back (I'm Coburn so you may know it) with about 40000 bricks. I would always use my laptop and it would lag unbearabley. At most there would be, eh, 20000 bricks in the major areas I was fine with it for awhile but eventually I got fed up with it and left the game altoghether.

So now I have come back hoping to be rid of the horrible lag and to be able to reamke my bowling alley in peace with no lag. Well I got a new computer. It has 1gb Nvidia Gefore 250 GTS graphics card, really nice asus gaming motherboard, extreme dual core black something processor, 4gb of RAM, and a 22" in monitor. I got the game started up and it starts well but when I load the bricks there is a hint of lag (not nearly as much as my other laptop). So I Walk around for a bit and notice it suddenly getting laggier and laggier and laggier and laggier by the minute until it becomes just as my laptop had used to be. I lowered some settings and still no change.

I was running this on an internet server by myself. I am right now checking if it does the same on a single player server (It seems to be doing the exact same thing)

So I also want to note what the behavior is like in a game called gmod (most of you have probably heard of it). Everything is cranked to the max and on the biggest of maps I still get about 120-140 fps. I used to get about 8-9 fps on my laptop. I can play the game great.

I also find it hard to believe that people with another computer (maybe the same or worse) get better performance as my friend was telling me his was fine.

This horrible lag is stuffting all over my experience of this game and I would really like to play it.

Note that there are other computers running on my network, my sister playing WoW, my mom doing work etc.

So is it my internet, the game, my computer, etc.

tl;dr: Played blockland on my new computer and it sucks as bad as it did on my old laptop.

Also: What is the command to show fps?

Try updating your graphics drivers. I know there were a few versions that had some issues with OpenGL so make sure you get the most up-to-date driver possible.

Also; are you running ANY add-ons at all, that did not come with the game? Can you post a console.log of you starting up your Blockland to the main menu.

It says my graphics drivers are up to date and here is my colsole.log

Also what add-ons may cause this kind of thing because I run lots of foreign add-ons (mainly events and scripts)

same here, i think it's just from the bricks, just save, reset the map, and load again

Are you sure it's not the add-ons? Try installing a new Blockland elsewhere on your PC, load the save and play it and see if the problem happens again.

I think it is the add-ons because I played with only default and it was working less laggier than usually.

I also already am using windows 7

Don't use 40000 bricks xD

So is there really no way to fix this because if I can't build above 40,000 bricks then I'm screwed.

But if it is one of my add-ons im fine.

Just what type of add-on would cause this so I know what to disable to see If it is one of those (I have to many to test each one)

If I made something myself (like a model or a particle) would that do it? Or would it be a bad script or what?

Well...
Does your server lag with 0 bricks? Then its just your build is spam, and if it is, I recommend looking at other builds and studying them. Seeing whats spam and whats not.

You could try disabling all add-ons, setting all settings to lowest and loading Demo House on Bedroom. If it still gets choppy, then something is seriously wrong.

What exactly are the "really nice asus gaming motherboard" and "extreme dual core black something processor"?
