I've acquired a lot of money during the holidays, and I think I have enough for a decent base pc.

What I want:

-Decent motherboard

-Decent video card

-Uses DDR2 Ram (I have this)

-Around $400-$450

I don't need a super fast computer, just something that I can upgrade with better parts as I get them.

This is the one I'm getting. I'll get a GT220 graphics card for it, too.

I think that's the closest you'll get for the price you posted.

Personally I like Nvidia better, but it's really all preference. Inb4ATI/Nvidiafanboys

Is Nvidia or ATI better?

I like Nvidia for their physx thing. Sure, it's useless in most cases. But it's still cool to have physx stuff in games like mirrors edge.
