I've owned both, and I like the Zune better.  Odd, I know, but it has a few things a step up from the iPod.  To list a few; FM Radio*, higher quality music/video, OLED Screen, wireless sync.  Does not have speakers.
*I've heard rumors that there is a "sleeper" radio in the iPod, meaning Apple has a radio in the iPod Touch 3rd Gen, but hasn't put it to use yet.
The iPod does have a vastly superior battery life and much larger App Store.  Has speakers.

Vote and discuss which is better.

I have to say iPT because that's all I've eer owned.

The ZuneHD has a great battery life, what do you mean by "vastly superior"?
I've left it on for about a week now, and from time to time played an app (no audio at all btw), and the battery is still around 90% full.

I have looked at both. The iPod touch has a promising future, and a powerful reputation, powerful enough to knock Zune out. In my opinion, I would rather buy an iPod touch, for the apps, the features, all that.

I don't know, I used it for just 4 hours or so and it was very close to dying.  I've left my iPod on for 2 days without charging it.

Right, forgot that.

Zune HD, I just got one for Christmas and I love it. I've always liked Zune over iPod, but mainly because I don't like Apple. I do wish the HD had speakers, though.

much larger App Store.

That's because the Zune HD came out only a short time ago. I'm sure as they develop apps they'll add them to the marketplace.

Hi Kevin :3

Wasn't the Zune Microsoft's version of the iPod?

Hi Kevin :3

I beg your pardon?

EDIT: Turns out (through a long and annoying process involving downloading a few large programs) you can download apps people have made for Zune HD that aren't in the marketplace. Getting some of those now, mainly the level and the stopwatch. P:

The app store is the main reason why the iPT is superior to the zune.
Personally, I'm an iPod bitch, I just enjoy the way you listen to music on iPods.

I like the ipod more because I think it looks better, being more streamline than bulky.
One major upside of the Zune is that you can actually develop apps on windows. You can't do that with the ipod. >:(

I would get a ZuneHD because rather than spinning my fingers in circles, I can just scroll regularly.

What are you talking about? Both of them are touchscreens.

/facepalm for unawareness.

But to tell the turth, the zune wins in graphics because it has a loving nividia GPU in it.

I'm absolutely in love with the iPod Touch.
