Author Topic: Breaking News! TBM cigarettes are at it again.  (Read 51641 times)

If you don't have experience scripting then I don't think you should comment on our game. We have no interest in these shenanigans.

There are many things that people "should not" do, but your statement there isn't going to stop anything. The comments are going to keep coming, so I suggest you learn to handle them; people don't care what you 'think'.

As for your second sentence, if you had "no interest" you wouldn't be taking the time to post.

Tell me, TBM, if you can. You have destroyed so much. What is it, exactly, that you have created? Can you name even one thing that isn't a knockoff of something else? I thought not.

I can handle these comments just fine; it's a shame that you don't care what I think. That really doesn't make for a good community, does it?

I am taking time to post because I cannot stand people spreading falsehoods and splattering *explitive* all over the game I've worked hard on.

As for the man questioning TBM: Why don't you ask them rather than me? I am not TBM, nor did I work on TBM. Thanks.

I am not TBM
You say that now, but a few posts ago you referred to them as we.

So you're admitting that you do indeed care, and that your statement before was false.

Exactly, he's been using terms like "we" and "our" throughout his posts. Cyber, if you didn't want us to think you were an Admin/main part of TBM then specify. You've been implying that you are part of the TBM staff throughout your replies. If you aren't part of TBM, then did the staff just give you 'permission' to talk about it as if you were?

No, I have been referring to the Freebuild development team as "we". "We" are NOT the TBM team. The TBM team (Gobbles, etc.) are not working on this game any longer.

The part you don't seem to accept is that TBM is NOT Freebuild.

The part you don't seem to accept is that TBM is NOT Freebuild.
If that was really true you would have joined this topic calmly, stated that TBM is not Freebuild, provided evidence, and we would all say, "Oh, it's not TBM."

You didn't do that though, so it makes it hard to believe you.

"First of all it's a new game called "Freebuild". We have the newest engine, and we have made enough modifications to call it a new game."

I made it clear that this is Freebuild, and not TBM as even the title suggests. I entered this thread extremely calmly, and am still calm. If you are going to continue nitpicking thing like this I will oblige you, and discontinue my contributions as suggested.

I am going to continue so you can discontinue and leave.

I find it incredible that people try to pull off revisionist history on the internet when the original facts remain preserved: http://www.torquepowered.com/community/forums/viewthread/32226

The Facts:

(Confirmed by third party experts, or confessed to by the perpetrators themselves.)

  • TBM contained a backdoor that allowed anyone who knew about it to upload and execute arbitrary scripts to any server.
  • TBM contained code to automatically delete competing mods (in their entirety, not just specific parts as claimed)
  • TBM contained further malicious code that would automatically target certain usernames and IP addresses for special abuse.
  • One of the primary features of TBM was a "magic staff" that would give special abilities only to those who knew the secret codes to access them.  The primary purpose of this appeared to be to give special privileges to TBM developers on any server they wished.
  • Members of TBM staff created spam scripts to attack RTB 1.045 servers.  This was done to showcase the weaknesses of RTB and the supposed strengths of TBM spam blocking.
  • Members of TBM staff have discussed, at length, methods for obtaining retail Blockland for free and circumventing its various demo mode restrictions.
  • Members of TBM staff observed the retail Blockland GUI scheme in a preview video, made a clone of it for TBM, then attempted to claim that I had stolen it from them.

This behavior represents a complete ethical bankruptcy.  These people should not be trusted with anything.

I'm a fellow who plays this game a lot, and i must say it is a great game. Sadly this incident is really causing trouble it seems as though everyone is turning against Eric. Also I think people should just wait for the retail version of this game instead of modding it to hell. Honestly i think the best move would have been to just nuke the forum and leave a message where it once was saying it will be down for a while, but this would lead to people most likely forgetting about blockland. I wish there was a way to prove to the community that this was for the good of the community, and not some grudge against the tbm crew.
:o

At least we are getting back to actual things regarding a game. (I will comment on thing relating to the game).

We are not the TBM guys. I am not commenting on that game, or what they did. We used the TBM base but removed all offending scripts. You can even check for yourself; the game is open source. I was hoping, Badspot, that we could be slightly more rational about it this time around. I read your garage games threads; I know about the issues you faced. We will not put in exploitative scripts.
