Author Topic: RAWR new computer!  (Read 1400 times)

For christmas I got a new computer, nothing fancy, but I love it. So far the only problem is:

I don't like the keyboard or mouse, keyboard has too flat keys, hoping to get used to it. Mouse I'm not sure I'll ever get used to, it's optical and way too fast for me. I hope I get used to that too, so that I can move my crosshairs faster :3

Also it's windows 7, and I heard there are a bunch of weird/cool feature :o I just tried the shaking window thing, awesome :D.

So yeah I guess the point of this thread is to tell me how to used windows 7, and get used to flat keys and fast mouses. Also discuss your computers.

Also tell me if these specs are decent for high setting TF2 playing:

Pentium Dual Core E5300 2.60Ghz processor
64-bit operating system
and...graphics card...how do i view that again?

edit:one more thing, how do i view my connection speed? I gotta know to reinstall steam.

It doesn't matter what connection speed you put in Steam settings.
If you don't know what you have, put it on highest.

Lol, doesn't matter? Then why does it ask you?

I have no idea. Probably does something, but I haven't noticed.

Well I can run TF2 maxed out settings (1600x900), with about 100-150fps.

My specifications

ATI Radeon HD 4890
AMD Phenom II x4, 3.2ghz
4gb DDR3 (1067mhz)

Well I can run TF2 maxed out settings (1920x1080), with about 400-500fps on a 32/32 server.

:)

Hmmm... That doesn't make sense how do you get 3x more frames on a higher resolution with lower specs than me. Either you looked up in the sky in game to get a higher frame rate. Or my computer doesn't want to go higher since it doesn't need to because the human eye can only see about 60-70fps.

Either that or my FPS is messed up. But I can tell it's obviously always over 100 because it's very very smooth.

sooo... how do i see my graphics card? and is my processor fit for high settings?

bump. Just played TF2, im amazed at how much faster it loads. but the gameplay, eh. the graphcis all look 20x better, but even on low, intense blood and explosions and other debris drops my framte rate to 1/4 or so. Im going to make my resolution 800x600, then do you think i could run it on medium?

:) Intel > AMD
By far. My Core 2 Duo 2.8 GHz can outperform a 3.2 GHz Phenom II X4 sometimes.

What if my 3.2ghz phenom II X4 is overclocked to 4.0?
