Author Topic: CityRP - What's the full story?  (Read 1252 times)

I don't understand why CityRP is one of the most hated add-ons. I don't know why it's failed. What's the full story?

Because it was spammed and half of the servers became crappy laggy Rp servers

the mod it self was technically fine..

No it just sucks.

No it just sucks.

It sucked. It spammed. It clogged up the whole server list with city rp servers. People abused it. Cityrp is boring. People with admin powers took control as big crazy bullies. People kept complaining. Only some people were sensible enough to use it proerply. So now there. Abused people. Full story finished. The End.

Tom

The problem isn't the mod then, its the people who use it.

No, the problem is how the mod causes people to use it.

Weren't you banned from RTB after you posted a link to it Green?

No, the problem is how the mod causes people to use it.
All mods have that problem then. TDM, Siege, every one of them. The problem is that the mod is popular, and that the people that use it don't customize it at all. I hosted my own CityRPG server, (uses Iban's old mod) and everyone that came, loved it. Just to add to that, the mod does not "spam", what does it spam, the console? No.

It's fun in the right hands.

It spams the server. If it were released to a select few trustworthy people instead of letting everyone have it then the server list wouldn't be clogged up with stuff like that.
Not to mention the whole gameplay was stupid. You sit around for a few minutes, wait for money to collect in an imaginary job where you don't do anything relating to the job, build a house, wait for MORE money because you're limited on money here, build more until you get your house together, then do nothing. It's literally the most mundane gameplay I've seen to grace Blockland.

Yeah, I remember making an elite crime base on the dresser that would catapult me down to the city so I could loot some poor cigarettes, it would then instant respawn me back to base. Many tried to kill me and failed...

Hey, it's not as bad as tezuni's rocket spamboxthing that credited the kills to whomever accidently activates it

Once upon a time there was an enormous fungus mushroom and a small patch of overgrown dry moss. One day the patch of moss said to the enormous mushroom,"Knock knock!" The big mushroom replied "who's there?" Then the patch off moss let the tension build up to it's peak point, then moved in for the punchline and blurted through his stifled laughter "ME!!!11!!" It was a crap joke. No one laughed. And City RP was fail binned.

The End. Enjoy your life.

No. TDM, Siege(the same thing as TDM, duh) etc. don't have distinct design flaws that cause this.

CityRP seems to inspire foulplay whereas TDM has defenses against it.

City RP just sucked. I went on a server when someone I knew was. When I was afk I realized this one guy was "stealing money" from me the whole time, so I instantly had "money" problems. Also, there's this stupid gun "law" in which you have to but guns instead of just plant them on a brick. One admin on this server decided to give himself infinite "money" and go up on one of the walls and spawn giant rockets at anyone he dislikes. I asked my friend, who could have banned him, but he chose not to because "he is awesome". Ugh

Because you useless twat players hosted it with weapons enabled and the only fun way to achieve money was by selling military grade weapons to a civillian population. The few times I did host it, I had the baton replaced with a machine gun that jailed you upon bullet hit and had almost no weapons enabled.
